sermon: Deuteronomy, Land Sabbaths, Atonement, and Third Tithe

A Survey of What We Learned

Description: (show)

Reflecting on the significance of God's annual Holy Days, the speaker uses the metaphor of The Talent Game (a board game cyclically progressing thorough squares, requiring players to recall teachings of these annual holy days) to identify five key points. 1. Deuteronomy and the Seven-Year Cycle: Deuteronomy 31:9-13 commands the reading of the Law every seven years at the Feast of Tabernacles to instill fear of God and obedience. 2. Land Sabbath and Year of Release: Leviticus 25 commands the land Sabbath, in which the land rests every seventh year, as well as the Jubilee Year every 50th year, inextricably intertwined with the Day of Atonement, promoting ecological rest, debt forgiveness and social equity, reflecting Almighty God's care for creation and justice. 3. Historical events, including economic crises and agricultural problems during Shemitah years, underscore the dangers of ignoring these annual Sabbaths. 4. Day of Atonement and the Two Goats: The atonement and the two goats emphasizes that Jesus Christ is the sole sin-bearer, not Satan, as traditionally applied to the Azazel goat. Atonement signifies complete forgiveness and removal of sin, distinguishing it from the Passover's peace offering. 5. Third Tithe Year: Deuteronomy 26:12 connects the third tithe to the sabbatical cycle, supporting the needy (Levites, strangers, widows, orphans), culminating on the Day of Atonement. God uses these cycles to reinforce understanding and worship, encouraging His people to respond with humility and action, as exemplified by Josiah's reforms, which aligned believers with God's will and spiritual growth through obedience and reverence.

I think one of the interesting aspects of God's holy days is that they happen every year and only once a year, unlike the weekly Sabbath.

In terms of learning about these days and what each one represents both past, present, and future, we mostly study about them and have messages regarding them as they occur.

Now, there is nothing wrong with this because those who speak, I, I'm guessing, but I think in general they try to follow Matthew 24:45, where Jesus states that a faithful and wise servant gives the household food in due season or at the right time.

So, in general, we typically speak about and study the, the holy days as they pass by each year.

And I grew up playing a game called the Talent Game, and for those who are not familiar with that game it was or is, because I can't find, I can't find one out there right now.

Um, but basically, it's a game where you will roll the dice and, and take your marker and progress around the board as you go.

And then as you land on each square, you're required to answer either an easy or a medium or a hard question.

And as you continue around the board, um, you are also required to stop on each one of the holy days, um, and make a statement that that applies basically to that particular day.

So for example, for the Days of Unleavened Bread, one might say,

Exodus 12:15 7 days shall you eat unleavened bread lest you be cut off,

or for the Day of Atonement, perhaps you would say, you know, we are required to afflict our souls and fast for 24 hours, something general like that.

That was generally good enough to keep you advancing around the board.

Now, as you might imagine, the more you played the game, the more you started to develop, you know, 5 to 7 memory statements that you could rely on to successfully move you through each of the holy dates towards the last tile, which was the kingdom.

If only life was as easy as a board game, we'd all be in the kingdom.

In similar fashion to the Talent Game, we celebrate these days every single year, and for each day we are reminded of what they represent and are shown a little bit more about Jesus Christ and God the Father.

We've learned a lot as we've moved around the proverbial Talent board throughout our individual lifetimes.

Have we settled into a standard response, maybe a couple of bullet points, or for what each day represents and what it means in the grand scheme of things?

I certainly did.

And today I'd like to reflect a bit on the Day of Atonement, what we will observe next week, and attempt to do a high-level recap of what we've learned throughout the years, and then focus on some of the things that are tied to this particular holy day.

Now many of you might remember John Ritenbaugh's 2001 series on Deuteronomy, and most likely because a month prior at least in America, we experienced the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center towers.

However, this was actually the second time that Mr. Ritenbaugh took us through Deuteronomy, because he first brought it to our attention at the Feast in 1994.

So if you will, please turn to Deuteronomy 31 for our first for our first scriptures.

And these are the scriptures that Mr. Ritenbaugh led with in those messages.

Deuteronomy 31, and we will read verses 9 through 13.

Deuteronomy 31:9.

Deuteronomy 31:9-13 So Moses wrote this law and delivered it to the priests, the sons of Levi, who bore the ark of the Covenant of the Lord. And to all the elders of Israel, and Moses commanded them, saying at the end of every 7 years, at the appointed time in the year of release, at the Feast of Tabernacles, when all Israel comes to appear before the Lord your God in the place which He chooses, you shall read this law before all Israel in their hearing. Gather the people together, men, women, and little ones, and the stranger who is within your gates that they may hear and that they may learn to fear the Lord your God. And carefully observe all the words of this law, and that their children who have not known it may hear and learn to fear the Lord your God as long as you live in the land you cross the Jordan to possess.

Now after he read these scriptures, Mr. Ritenbaugh, he called our attention to the command from God that we just read.

At the end of every seven years, the law Deuteronomy was to be read to the people at the Feast of Tabernacles.

So beginning in 1994 and then in 2001, and every 7 years after that, Mr. Ritenbaugh would use the seventh year feast to review Deuteronomy.

And I remember thinking that this was an interesting revelation, if you will.

Uh, it was right there in God's word, what we should be doing.

Uh, and I think many wrote the entire book of Deuteronomy in those years.

And if you do not recall how that relates to Atonement, do not worry, we will, we will get there in a couple of minutes.

And so time marched on, and we all kept getting older and older.

And then in 2014, literally 20 years from 1994, Mr. Ritenbaugh gave a sermon on the 7th year, the year of release, which is the title of that message.

And in it, he explained the importance of the land Sabbath that God had ordained and more specifically that we should let the land rest and also release debts as God outlines in Leviticus 25.

Let's go over to Leviticus 25 for our next scripture and see this.

Incidentally, I can't verify this is the first time that he spoke about this, but this was certainly the focus of this message here in 2014.

All right, Leviticus 25:1.

Leviticus 25:1-7 And the Lord spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, saying, Speak to the children of Israel and say to them, when you come into the land which I give you, then the land shall keep a Sabbath to the Lord. 6 years shall you sow your field, and 6 years shall, um, prune your vineyard. You shall prune your vineyard and gather its fruit. But in the 7th year there shall be a Sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a Sabbath to the Lord. You shall neither sow your field or prune your vineyard. What grows of its own accord, your harvest, you shall not reap, nor gather the grapes of of your untended vine, for it is the year of rest for the land, and the Sabbath produce of the land shall be food for you, for you, for your male and female servants, your hired man, and the stranger who dwells with you, for your livestock and the beasts that are in your land. All its produce shall be for food.

And so we learned that there is a land Sabbath that is different from the weekly or 7th day Sabbath.

And even beyond that, as we see here in Leviticus 25 verses 8 through 17, there is a 50th year, which is called the Jubilee year.

Let's read this in Leviticus 25 verses 8 and 9.

So 25:8,

Leviticus 25:8-9 and you shall count 7s Sabbaths of years for yourself. 7 times 7, and the time of the seven Sabbath of years shall be to you 49 years. Then you shall cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound on the 10th day of the 7th month on the Day of Atonement, you shall make the trumpet to sound throughout all your land.

Now, this scripture reveals that Atonement is the anchor point for counting the 7-year cycle and properly arriving at the year of release and then eventually at the the 50th year, which is the Jubilee year.

It is also interesting that a trumpet is used to mark the start of that year.

Now, I might need to interject here.

This knowledge might have been known by several prior to these messages, so I, I do not want to take away from any of that.

Rather, I just want to remind us of what we've learned over the years.

Now, it was not until I was married and purchased a home with my beautiful wife that we both agreed that we needed to keep the land rest.

Uh, because, well, we had finally had land and we actually had fruit trees and things that they were qualifying for this rest.

And so another bullet point or memory point, if you will, was added to my understanding of Atonement in the beginning and it's beginnings and endings.

As we head around the board for another turn, for those who came through the Worldwide days, you may or may not agree, but at least for me, there were some things that I had been taught at a young age that never really made sense to me, and the Azazel goat was one of them.

In the, I believe it was 2017, we were introduced to the fact that the Azazel goat is actually tied to apocryphal tradition, and as time marched on, we were presented with even more scriptural-based understanding of the Atonement sacrifices and of how both goats point to Jesus Christ as one sacrifice that is made for us.

For reference, you can write down the two goats of Leviticus, Azazel beginnings, Azazel endings, and simply search two goats on CGG.org.

Now Jesus Christ is the one and the only one who bore the sins of many so that our sins could be forgiven and removed completely.

You can write down I Peter 2:24 and Hebrews 9:28.

And so once again, our journey around the Talent Game of life, we learned more about Atonement, and I would say that God revealed more of Himself to us about this holy day.

In 2020, we received clarity that Passover represents more of a peace offering that enables us to have a relationship with God through Christ.

We learned that Atonement represents a sin offering which is symbolic in the complete forgiveness and removal of sin.

And for reference, you can write down Passover and extraordinary peace offering.

In 2023, David Grabien gave us some food for thought.

In his sermon titled When Is the Third Tithe Year, where he explained the connection between the seven-year sabbatical cycle and the third tithe year as being practiced as a community.

And a key scripture here is, um, Deuteronomy 26:12, you do not have to turn there, I'll just read it.

Deuteronomy 26:12 When you have finished laying aside all of the tithe of your increase in the 3rd year, the year of tithing, and have given it to the Levite, the stranger, the Fatherless, and the widow. So that they may eat within your gates and be filled,

and we will stop there.

Now, David explained where we were in the cycle, and at the time noted that the current third tithe year would be from the Day of Atonement on 2024 and then last until the Day of Atonement 2025, which is just, I think it's 5 days from now.

And so we took another lap around life's version of the Talent Game, adding another bullet point to our memory.

And again, I recognize that some or all of this is not new to, to some of us.

We remember them.

We, we've already studied them, but I think in the spirit of what I mentioned earlier, God wants us to remember and review these things each year, because it reminds us of who and what He is and what Jesus Christ has accomplished as our Creator and Savior, and amongst other things, it teaches us to fear the Lord.

All right, so we've just gone through perhaps not an exhaustive list of the things that we've learned about the Day of Atonement or you know the things that start and stop on the Day of Atonement.

So let's ask ourselves the, the so what question.

Why do these things matter?

And of course, Mr. Ritenbaugh's voice, Everything matters, rings in our head, right?

All right, we started this journey with reading of Deuteronomy, I think this was God's doing.

So let's go back to Uh, Deuteronomy 31, again, we are just going to pick up two scriptures here.

Deuteronomy 31, and we will read verses 12 and 13.

Deuteronomy 31:12,

Deuteronomy 31:12-13 Gather the people together, men and women and little ones and the stranger who is within your gates that they may hear and that they may learn to fear the Lord your God and carefully observe all the words of this law, and that their children who have not known it may hear and learn to fear the Lord your God as long as you live in the land which you cross the Jordan to possess.

The purpose for focusing on Deuteronomy and the law every 7 years was to ensure that everyone, both old and young, whether it was their 10th time hearing it or their first time, that they would be exposed to God's law and understand both His blessings and cursings.

Additionally, part of its purpose is to help us to learn to fear God.

Learning to fear God is fundamental to having a good relationship with Him.

You can write down Proverbs 1:7.

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

And again in Proverbs 9:10,

Proverbs 9:10 the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

God gives us wisdom through understanding His law.

Fearing God and gaining wisdom is a blessing.

All right.

We're here in Deuteronomy 32.

Let's drop down to verses 44 through 47.

Uh, Deuteronomy 32:44.

Deuteronomy 32:44-47 So Moses came with Joshua, the son of Nun, and spoke all the words of this song in the hearing of the people. Moses finished speaking all these words to all Israel, and he said to them, Set your hearts on all the words which I testify among you today, which you shall command your children to be careful to observe all the words of this law, for it is not a futile or vain thing for you because it is your life, and by this word you shall prolong the days in which your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan. To possess

Reading and reviewing Deuteronomy is no small thing to God.

It's a blessing to us if we read and repent and overcome and align our lives with God's way of living.

I find it interesting, at least to my recollection, my recollection the Church of the Great God was introduced to the command to read Deuteronomy somewhat first.

It reminded me a bit of Josiah's experience, and you'll have to turn here, Josiah's experience recorded in II Kings 22.

Now, Josiah was about, if my math is correct, I think he was about 26 when he, he sent Shaphan the scribe to go gather money to repair the house of the Lord.

Now Shaphan goes to Hilkiah, the high priest, who ends up giving him the book of the law, which has been shown to be Deuteronomy.

Now Shaphan returns to Josiah, and he reads it to him, and immediately Josiah acts because he fears God and knows that his forefathers went drastically astray.

Now I'm not suggesting that Mr. Ritenbaugh was a modern day Josiah.

Uh, I am saying that I think God presents us with the law every 7 years as as either fresh content or a general refresher with the expectation that it changes our direction, similar to how it affected Josiah.

All right it is probably no surprise to you.

Or no surprise that the year of release would present itself next, or maybe precisely at the same time.

To read Deuteronomy in the 7th year, well, we would have to know when the 7th year was.

And as I mentioned earlier, I'm not sure the 7th year made much sense to us other than to understand that we should be reading Deuteronomy.

And I could certainly be wrong, but in the 7th year, you know, until I had a home, I personally had nothing to let rest.

So it was more of simply marking the year, reading Deuteronomy and, and moving on.

But God takes this year seriously.

Let's go back to Leviticus 25.

I pick up another, another thought here.

Leviticus 25, we will read verses 1 through 4.

Um, Leviticus 25:1,

Leviticus 25:1-4 and the Lord spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, saying, Speak to the children of Israel and say to them, when you come into the land which I give you, the land shall keep a Sabbath to the Lord. 6 years you shall sow your field, and 6 years you shall prune your vineyard and gather its fruit. But in the 7th year there shall be a Sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a Sabbath to the Lord.

Now when we think about the Sabbath and rest, we typically think about the weekly Sabbath that occurs um on Saturday, the 7th day of the week.

Now here God is outlining a Sabbath and a rest for the land.

This is important.

God created the earth and everything in it, and He cares about His creation.

Let's go over to 2 Chronicles.

I just wanna illustrate how much He cares.

II Chronicles 36.

Uh, II Chronicles 36, we will read verses 19 through 21, we are breaking into the fall of Jerusalem here.

Uh, II Chronicles 36:19.

II Chronicles 36:19-21 Uh, then they burned the house of God, broke down the wall of Jerusalem, burned all its palaces with fire, and destroyed all its precious possessions. And those who escaped from the sword he carried away to Babylon, where they became servants to him and his sons until the rule of the king of Persia, to fulfill the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah until the land had enjoyed her Sabbath. As long as she lay desolate, she kept Sabbath to fulfill 70 years.

See, so we see here that in punishing Israel, God ensured that the land received the rest He had required, something it had not received in years past due to disobedience.

Now, let's take a look at some other historical things that have happened either in or near the the years of release because I think that it's at least interesting.

Uh, from a direct agricultural perspective, and I'm going to take from 2014 to 2022 which means the, the years of release within those, um, two years.

The world went through food safety concerns, a food price crisis with both wheat and rice shortages.

There was drought, grain volatility, war along with COVID-19 that impacted supply chains, and fertilizer shortages from the Ukraine and Russia war.

Now from an economic perspective in this year and starting with 1994, so I'm going back one set of 7.

In 1993 and 1994, there was a gigantic bond market crash.

In 2000 and 2001, of course, we had the 9/11 attacks and the market, markets opened on the final day of the Shmita, and there was a 700 point drop.

In '07 and 08, many of us will remember the global financial crisis.

50% of the market dropped, and Lehman, Lehman Brothers collapsed along with a couple of others.

In 14 and 15, we had the European debt crisis we had to bail out Greece, and there was sharp market corrections in 2021.

In 2022, we had economic instability, post-COVID inflation, asset bubbles, crypto crashes, rising interest rates, and widespread layoffs.

I do not think these are all coincidences.

I think God is trying to get our attention and the attention of the world to remember His Sabbath.

It's important to God and designed by God for the land to rest in these years, and the land must rest, lest we receive cursings for not doing so.

In addition to the land resting in the 7th year, God also outlines a release of debts in Deuteronomy 15.

Let's go ahead and turn over there.

This release of debts is tied to the release, forgiveness of sins that we celebrate on Atonement.

So Deuteronomy 15, We'll start in verse one.

Deuteronomy 15:1.

Deuteronomy 15:1-6 At the end of every 7 years, you shall grant a release of debts, and this is the form of the release. Every creditor who has lent anything to his neighbor shall release it. He shall not require it of his neighbor or his brother because it is called the Lord's release of a foreigner, you may require it, but you shall give up your claim to what is owed by your brother, except when there be except when. There may be no poor among you, for the Lord will greatly bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance. Verse 5, only if you carefully obey the voice of the Lord your God to observe with care all these commandments which I command to you today, for the Lord your God will bless you just as He promised you. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. You shall reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over you.

And of course, we, we failed greatly there.

Um, God, at least in part is teaching us to forgive others as He has forgiven us.

Every 7 years we have the opportunity to not just forgive physical debt because most of us haven't made long-term loans to each other but we have an opportunity to forgive spiritual debt, if you will.

Those who might have wronged us or hurt us, well, this is the time to let things go, to forgive and start anew, exactly like what Atonement teaches us at least in part.

Forgive the sin, the trespass, throw the memory away and continue in the fellowship, be Christ-like.

That's at least in part what we learned from these days.

Now, from a blessings perspective, I've highlighted three categories for keeping the year of release.

These are general and certainly not all encompassing, but it's, it's basically a type of economic balancing.

Debts were canceled and loans were forgiven.

Uh, and it's a little bit of maybe God's social plans, God's social plan, which is obviously better than man's social plan.

With debts being released every 7 years, everyone would have the opportunity to make a new start, as it were.

No matter how poor or in debt you were, you could have a new start.

And then my, my third bullet is God's green movement again, better than any green movement of this world.

The sabbatical year allows for the soil to rest and rejuvenate the minerals it needs to host a fruitful crop.

All right, the Jubilee year.

I will not go very deep into the Jubilee, but suffice it to say it, it is similar and yet much broader than the, the 7th year of release.

Let's go over to Leviticus 25 again.

We'll just pick this up quickly.

Leviticus 25.

And we will read verses 8 through 12.

Leviticus 25:8,

Leviticus 25:8-12 and you shall count 7s Sabbaths of years for yourself, 7 times 7, and the time of the 7th Sabbath of the years shall be to you 49 years. Then you shall cause the trumpet of the Jubilee to sound on the 10th day of the 7th month on the Day of Atonement. You shall make the trumpet to sound throughout all your land. And you shall consecrate the 50th year and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you, and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family. That 50th year shall be a jubilee to you. In it you shall neither sow nor reap what grows of its own accord, nor gather the grapes of your untended vine, for it is the jubilee. It shall be holy to you. You shall eat its produce from the field.

Now again this year, the Jubilee year is anchored on the Day of Atonement.

The trumpet is the sound throughout the land, and there is a proclamation of liberty that is a blessing that is to go throughout all the land and its inhabitants.

It is interesting to me that God says in verse 12, it shall be holy to you, which in my mind means it's something that we should observe.

Now, my research um has shown that there are several ideas of when the actual Jubilee will occur, and I think that very similar to what God has done for us and revealing these things in time, He will show us when that, that year should be celebrated.

This year teaches us that God commanded a release of all of the inhabitants of the land and all of the inhabitants of the land to return to their possessions and family.

It was more than the seven-year land Sabbath.

It was a complete release of all debt as well as a land Sabbath.

It is interesting to me that in verse 13 through 17, God says, you shall not oppress each other, and He says that twice.

Like the 7th year of release, do we let offenses go, or do we oppress one another by holding on to various wrongs or infractions?

So I highlighted um some blessings of the Jubilee, the 50th year, just two bullets here.

Of course, the Jubilee contains many blessings of the 7th year, but it expands the release of debt and returning of the land, and which is real property, actual land.

It also requires one to have faith that God will provide for sustenance in the 49th and 50th year since no sowing or reaping was allowed similar to the 7th year of release.

Let's see this in Leviticus 25:18.

Let's go down to verse 18.

Leviticus 25:18-22 So you shall observe my statutes and keep my judgments and perform them, and you will dwell in the land in safety. Then the land will yield its fruit, and you will eat your fill and dwell there in safety. And if you say, as any normal human would say, what shall we eat in the 7th year since we shall not sow nor gather in our produce, then I will command my blessing on you in the 6th year, and it will bring forth produce enough for 3 years. And you shall sow in the 8th year and eat old produce until the 9th year until its produce comes in, you shall eat of the old harvest.

Now God in His loving and infinite wisdom provides us with what we need to serve and keep His commandments.

If we keep His commands, He promises to provide overflowing blessings in the 6th year that will keep us for the next 3 years.

That's pretty amazing.

All right, next up we have the two goats.

We considered the, the two goats as outlined in the Atonement sacrifice.

In John 4:24, Jesus tells us that God is spirit, and those that worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

Uh, I previously I referenced the messages and articles that dive deeper into this particular subject, so I'd encourage you if you have questions to do that research.

What I will say, Is that there is no room for anyone else other than God and Jesus Christ in God's holy days.

Atonement points to what Christ did on humankind's behalf and making it possible that through His blood, our sins might be forgiven and through His redemptive work, our sins might be removed as we read in David's Psalm 103 verses 11 and 12, and I'll just read, read them.

Psalms 103:11.

Psalm 103:11-12 For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy towards those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.

Now God patiently revealed more and more about what Atonement, and the two goats represent.

Uh, and has been patient with how we've historically viewed the Azazel goat.

He blessed us with the understanding that not only our sins are forgiven but completely removed.

This provides us with an even greater understanding of what Christ did for us.

And I'll end this topic with a reference to Richard's messages this year that point to Jesus Christ being the central focal point in all of God's holy days.

These days are about what God and Christ have done, are doing, and will accomplish.

Satan doesn't have a seat at that table.

I would offer that seeing Christ more fully and deeply involved in these holy days.

Should help us as we keep the days and worship Him in them.

Is this a Josiah moment?

Removing Satan from Atonement and worshiping only God, similar to how he tore down the false gods temples.

And worship the true God.

That brings me to the 3rd tithe year.

The 3rd tithe year, again, is interesting because it's commanded by God, but it also has its beginning and ending on Atonement during the sabbatical year.

I've honestly struggled with this for several years.

Um, you know, my challenge was not whether or not we should actually keep third tithe and help as outlined in scripture.

My challenge came when I listened to a message from a minister in God's church who highlighted a scripture that I, I did not really remember reading before.

So please turn with me to Deuteronomy 26.

Deuteronomy 26.

And we will read verses 12 and 13.

Deuteronomy 26:12.

Deuteronomy 26:12-13 When you have finished laying aside all the tithe of your increase in the 3rd year, the year of tithing, and have given it to the Levite, the stranger, the Fatherless, and the widow so that they may eat within your gates and be filled, then you shall say before the Lord your God,

and we can stop there.

Let's drop down to verse 15.

Deuteronomy 26:15 Look down from your holy habitation from heaven and bless your people Israel and the land which you have given us, just as you swore to our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.

For probably at least 330 year cycles, I would actually pray this prayer, but I always had a challenge with the blessing of Israel part.

These scriptures sound very much like the blessing would be upon God's spiritual people or even as physical people.

But here I was asking Him to bless me.

Uh, specifically, and so I had an issue reconciling whether I should be asking for blessings for me or for God's people or both.

I think we've seen that the third tithe is communal in nature and a broader blessing for God's people.

But knowing about and keeping the 3rd tithe, regardless of how difficult it might be, yields tremendous blessings.

Uh, we will end this, this survey that we've been going through with the blessings for the 3rd tithe, or at least the blessings that comes from tithing, which of course, 3rd tithe is a, is a part of.

Please turn with me to Malachi 3.

We'll jump in.

Malachi 3:10.

Uh, this is God speaking.

Malachi 3:10-12 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse that there may be food in my house, and try me now in this, says the Lord of hosts. If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it, and I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field, says the Lord of hosts. And all nations will call you blessed, for you will be delight, a delightful land, says the Lord of hosts.

Now God, the perfect parent wants to bless us, if only we will fear Him and do what He tells us to do.

Notice how in verse 11, God says He'll protect the fruit of the ground, and the vine will bear fruit.

If we do what He says regarding tithing similar to the years of release, He will take care of all our needs.

This has been a rather long recap of the various subjects across the past some 30 years or so that have stemmed from a greater understanding of Deuteronomy, the sabbatical cycle, and I would say the Day of Atonement itself.

I believe God started by grounding us once again in His law in Deuteronomy, reading it every 7 years.

He then slowly brought our attention to the year of release in Jubilee, the goats, and the 3rd tithe.

He has shown us how we can more accurately and completely worship Him, and this is exciting because if we can more completely worship God in spirit and truth, then He is faithful to bless us for that.

We've learned a lot about God's law, specifically through Deuteronomy, the years of release, the Jubilee, along with the Day of Atonement, and Christ being our perfect sacrifice, as well as third tithe across the past couple of decades.

As God reveals Himself to us, it's our responsibility to respond.

Josiah in his twenty-sixth year at the hearing of the book of the law, he tore his clothes and immediately took action.

God saw his tender heart and humility before Him and blessed him with peace because of it.

Oh, God-willing, we will take a couple more turns around the Talent Game of life, hopefully, a lot of turns.

And with each turn, add to our knowledge and understanding of each holy day as we go.

As we learn as God adds to our knowledge and opens our eyes to Him.

Let us continue to turn to Him with a tender heart and humility as we strive to worship Him in spirit and truth.
