Description: (hide)

It is mandatory that God's people realize the importance of lifelong learning in both general and spiritual education, whether it is absorbed formally, informally, and extending beyond classroom settings into everyday experiences, realizing that it is okay not to know what we do not know. Gaps in knowledge are natural and inevitable, yet these gaps offer opportunities for growth. Society's tendency to equate intelligence with accumulated knowledge is wrong headed. Intelligence is equated with the ability to learn. This ability, when coupled with pride, competitiveness, and destructive self-comparisons, discourages further learning, especially in spiritual contexts. True knowledge begins with the fear and reverence for God, relying on God's guidance for the transformative journey of faith. Matthew 20:29-34 and II Peter 1:5-8 emphasize the necessity of humility, faith, and perseverance in acquiring both worldly and godly wisdom. We must embrace the gaps in our knowledge while simultaneously seeking wisdom diligently, relying on God's help to grow spiritually and intellectually, reminding ourselves, "We do not know what we do not know," an acceptable starting point if we continue diligently striving to learn.
