sermonette: Feed on the Vine

Austin Del Castillo
Given 13-Apr-25; Sermon #1813-PMs; 16 minutes

Description: (hide)

Drawing a powerful parallel from the 1970s song "Without You" containing emotional desperation of losing a fickle lover, this message focuses on the need for Jesus Christ in our lives, symbolized by consuming unleavened bread during the Days of Unleavened Bread. Even though removing leaven (symbolizing sin) from our homes has importance, the far greater spiritual emphasis is on the eating of unleavened bread, ingesting and internalizing Christ, and yielding to and depending on Him fully. Like the battered wife who fights the police attempting to arrest the abusive husband, carnal human nature sadly forces people to cling to what is familiar and even harmful unless they, through their John 6:44 calling and through the empowering of God's Holy Spirit, switch their loyalty to Christ. We must continually and on a daily basis consume the Bread of Life by ingesting His Word through reading His Word, absorbing His Spirit, mind, and life (John 6:63), enabling us to overcome the world and fulfill our calling as saints preparing us for our role in His family.
